Gateway, CO - Park at the base of John Brown canyon and set out on foot to take in awe inspiring views of the Gateway area, The Palisade & The Dolores River Canyon. Start your hike on Dynamite Trail, then connect with Vista Grande Loop for a nice 3 mile adventure. There is little to no shade, so hike early or late in the day to avoid heat exposure and bring plenty of water. If you are looking for a longer hike - you can also include Cutler Rim, Entrada & Lumsden Loop - all are part of the Gateway Trails.
West Creek Picnic & Day Use Area

Gateway, CO - Located off of Highway 141 (5 miles from Gateway Glamping in the Unaweep Canyon. This day use area has picnic tables, Creek access, charcoal grills & a pit toilet.
John Brown Canyon

Gateway, CO - John Brown Canyon is an incredibly scenic area to explore. The Gateway trails are located at the base of this area. This road climbs up and out of Gateway, high into the La Sal Mountains where you will find National Forest access. John Brown Road connects Gateway with Moab, Utah to the West. Please note this route is not paved, there is no winter maintenance & the road is impassible when wet.
Dolores River Canyon

Gateway, CO - The Dolores River travels from the South in the San Juan Mountains, North through Gateway, then on wards to connect with the Colorado River, just outside of Dewey, Utah. The Bureau of Land Management manages public lands in Gateway, some of which are along the Dolores River, providing access to the public.
Dolores Point

Gateway, CO - This incredible view point is accessed from John Brown Canyon. Travel up above Gateway to enjoy panoramic vistas of the area.

The Hanging Flume

Paradox, CO - 29 miles South of Gateway, along Highway 141. There is a vehicle pull off where you can park, visitors can take in the stunning views and learn about the history of the area at the Hanging Flume overlook.
Moab, Utah

Moab: A Day Trip to Arches or Canyonlands National Parks. Moab is situated just on the other side of the La Sal Mountains, a mere 2.5-hour drive from Gateway. Take a day trip to explore the breathtaking Arches or Canyonlands National Parks.
Telluride

Telluride, CO - Prepare for a breathtaking 2-hour drive through Western Colorado's most stunning landscapes. You'll travel through the epic Dolores River Canyon, cruise past picturesque farms on Wrights Mesa, and finally, conquer the rugged mountainous terrain. Use the parking garage in Mountain Village and hop on the free gondola for a magical ride!
